Recently, the permanent magnet traction train M0345 of Line 3 was sent out from the operation library of Anshun vehicle base, officially opening the first passenger journey after the completion of the transformation, marking a breakthrough in the field of permanent magnet traction technology in Qingdao Metro.

The renovation project of permanent magnet traction train on Line 3 is jointly implemented by Qingdao Metro in conjunction with Hubei Donghu Laboratory, Qingdao Donghu Green Energy Saving Research Institute Co., Ltd., CRRC Qingdao Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd., CRRC Qingdao Sifang Vehicle Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Xiangtan Electric Co., Ltd. The project was officially launched in July 2021. Based on the existing vehicle interface of Line 3, a set of permanent magnet synchronous motor traction control platform was redeveloped. In the past two years, all parties have carried out technical docking for many times, continuously optimized the scheme design, promoted the transformation construction, static adjustment and dynamic adjustment tests with high standards, and successfully passed the expert review in January 2024.

The permanent magnet traction system train has the advantages of high efficiency, high performance, low noise and low maintenance cost, which can effectively reduce traction energy consumption, good acceleration performance and mute characteristics, and can provide passengers with a more comfortable and efficient travel experience. At the same time, the permanent magnet traction system has high regeneration efficiency and more energy feedback to the grid. With the positive flywheel energy storage system, the regenerative energy can be fully absorbed and utilized. It is estimated that after the train transformation, by comparing the energy consumption of permanent magnet traction motor and traditional asynchronous motor under different load conditions, it is concluded that the comprehensive power saving rate of permanent magnet traction train on Line 3 can reach 20%, and the energy saving effect is considerable.
